Just got back from a few days in Eastern TN, serving with men representing churches in West Virginia, Goochland and Chesterfield counties making up a group known as Carpenters 4 Christ.

We served residents in and around Trade, TN who are cleaning up and rebuilding after Hurricane Helene. Most of what I did was tree and brush removal. Other members of our group did roof repair, house clean outs, removing wet drywall and insulation, and distributing/installing generators.

The sheer volume of storm damage is difficult to describe and what's difficult to convey is how spread out the damage is.

In that area, there is steep terrain where winds knocked down entire hillsides of 100ft tall trees. Mudslides we're visible all over the place that took out homes, driveways, roads and fences.

Virtually every mountain river and stream had signs of significant flooding. Lots of driveways that cross those streams got washed out, pasture fences ripped out, livestock escaped, corn fields knocked down, and fields and pastures now littered with all kinds of debris including huge trees, cars, furniture, propane and oil tank tanks.

There are roads damaged all over the place. While most roads are navigable, many have washouts that close one lane, or there are sections filled with dirt and cobble to establish a temporary road bed. Some roads are closed, turning what would normally be a 10 minute drive into a 30-40 minute detour.

Nearby, in Boone there was also flood damage but most of the town is open and operating as normal, so getting everyday groceries and supplies is no longer an issue for most.

There are still many people without electricity and of course many who have damaged or destroyed homes who are still figuring out what their next steps are.

They have a long road ahead and what they probably need most at this point is labor to assist further with cleanup and rebuilding efforts. They need skid steers, excavators and tractors and people with construction, plumbing and electrical skills. If you have the means to get a crew together, reach out to any church and offer your assistance. They'll certainly know someone in the area who needs it.

We're heading to eastern TN next week along with our neighbor at Dunn Right Ranch (great local business btw if you want grass fed beef, or pasture raised pork) where we will be assisting with cleanup efforts, patching roofs, and feeding people.

Here's what we're accepting:
-Canned food, esp need proteins like chicken, tuna, peanut butter, but soups, beans, and veggies also good
-Bottled water (cases or gallons)
-Protein bars
-Work gloves
-Trash bags

We're now taking deposits for cut-your-own Christm

4 Days Until We Open Up Reservations (starting Oct

4 Days Until We Open Up Reservations (starting Oct 1) for CUT-YOUR-OWN Christmas trees. Pictured here is our Carolina Sapphire which has an icy blue green color and pleasant citrusy scent.

The reservation deposit is $50, and trees will be priced in the field from $79-$129, based on size, and you'll pay the difference when you cut it down. There's no pre-tagging. Its all first-come, first-served. If you don't find something you like in the field, you can apply your deposit to a pre-cut tree, or we'll issue a refund.

FYI - We'll have our largest selection ever of precut Fraser Fir starting Nov. 23. Sizes will range from 3ft tabletop trees to 10ft+. No reservation required for those.

And just like that, we end our Flower Festival and we're on to the next! Today marks 100 days 'til Christmas, but just 68 days until our OPENING DAY for Christmas season on Saturday November, 23.

🎅Santa Story Time will be back for a 5th year, scheduled for Sunday Dec. 8. Tickets will go on sale in November.

- it's about 1/4 mile walk to the sunflower field
- wear sturdy, closed toed shoes
- leashed pets are permitted
- credit cards accepted, but no digital payment apps (e g. Zelle, Cashapp, venmo)
- personal photos encouraged, but professional photographers must have a season pass.

Firewood is kind of like life insurance - the worst time to try to buy it is when you need it!

We're grateful for your business however and whenever it comes, but we've been posting for weeks, months even, to get your firewood orders in early.

With this week's cooler weather, we got flooded with orders so my delivery schedule for this week is now full. If you're wanting firewood for THIS WEEKEND, we'll be available for pickup at the farm on Friday or Saturday before 10am. Otherwise, orders placed online at this point will get delivered next week.
