Here’s a list of several sunflower fields and sunflower festivals around Richmond, Virginia where you can get out and enjoy the bright blooms during the summer and early autumn of 2024.

Unfortunately sunflowers have an extremely short bloom duration making its tricky to catch when the flowers are in peak bloom. The exact dates for peak bloom can vary with the weather too, so be sure to check with the farm before venturing out!

WOODS TREE FARM – Amelia, VA

At Woods Tree Farm (that’s us) we’re having two sunflower events in 2024.

SUNFLOWERS, Zinnias, Cosmos – July 5-7. For 2024, we have our most ambitious planting yet with multiple patches of sunflowers flanked by beautiful white buckwheat, which will make for some amazing photo opportunities.

Fall Sunflower Festival Sept 13-15, 2024 Over 100,000 sunflowers, plus colorful zinnias, cosmos and other wildflowers. GET MORE INFORMATION HERE

At both events you can pick your own flowers, enjoy the photo props we’ve set up, take a hay ride and kids can play in our play field.

ALVIS FARMS – Manakin Sabot, VA

SUNFLOWER FESTIVAL (2024 Dates June 21-23) in the past this Sunflower Festival has been held around the end of July or early August. Alvis Farms grows oil seed sunflowers as a commodity crop so they have a huge field of sunflowers. Their event has grown over the years to include more on-site vendors and activities.

FRESH BRANCH FARM – Chesterfield, VA

EST Date – Mid July 2024 – Fresh Branch Farm is located near Pocohontas State Park in Chesterfield County. They primarily raise beef and chickens, but have an annual sunflower event where they have a few photo props set up and allow visitors to cut sunflowers. CHESTERFIELD BERRY FARM – Moseley, VA

Sunflower and Sweet Corn Festival – Late July – Early August. At Chesterfield Berry Farm you’ll pay a single admission to the event to get access to all the activities including a hayride to the sunflower patch. Several styles and colors of sunflowers are grown. They also have a concession stand and offer fresh cooked sweet corn for sale. For an extra fee cut and take home sunflowers or sweet corn and other produce.
